Seminar on Open Source for VOIP Security

This seminar was given by Mr. Suhas Desai. He is a security analyst at Tech Mahindra. He is a contributing writer for “Linux Journal”, “Linux for You”, “Linux + DVD” magazines. He is also a feature writer for
www.linuxsecurity.com. His articles are translated in world’s all major languages. The seminar was attended by around 60 students, wherein the speaker pointed out VoIP, VoIP protocols. Also some source
tools for VoIP, VoIP Attacks and security tools to access VoIP were provided.


Impetus and Concepts ’09

This event, held in association with PICT-IEEE Student branch, is one of the largest technical events in the country. With the prize money of over 7 lakhs, and a footfall of over 30,000+, this event encompasses one and all. There were nearly 2400+ odd student participants from 150+ engineering colleges from inside and outside Maharashtra. Concepts has been attracting corporate giants for not only sponsorship but also in terms of time and guidance to the office bearers. Industries such as Starent Networks, 2Wire, Calsoft, IBM, Persistent, Microsoft, TIBCO, Pune Dairy etc were closely associated with this event

Membership Drive ’10

The Membership Drive marked the beginning of this semester’s activities. Seminars were held on the 3rd and 6th of February, wherein the First year students and the interested students from Second and Third year were informed about the activities of the PICT IEEE Student Branch. They were also updated about all the benefits of being an IEEE member, its professional association and its aim of technology promotion. The membership drive was held over the months from January to March, 2010. The students also got to interact with the senior members of the student branch regarding their experiences as a student member and how it has been advantageous. Registration desks were set up in the college where the students got themselves registered as IEEE members. Overall, the membership drive was a great success with 100+ interested students registering themselves as IEEE members.

Credenz Tech Dayz

Credenz Tech Dayz was organized as a welcome event for the new IEEE members, which will now become an annual event. It was basically organized to focus on first and second year students, to make them well acquainted with the current scenario in the field of technology. It is an initiative to encourage all the enthusiasts to not only develop their skills in the latest technologies, but also apply them. This also provides them a platform for interaction with experts from the industry and helps them select a domain of their choice and advance in their field of interest. Following were the seminars held during those days.

Seminar on I-Phone Application Development

The seminar was presented by Amit Bijlani, an entrepreneur and Founder of Elusive Pixel with over 12 years of experience in the software industry. Speaker introduced student with basics of mobile application development. He talked in length about I-Phone Applications, their development and platform on which these applications are developed.

Seminar on .NET Basics

This seminar was presented by Mayur Tendulkar a Pune User Group Team Member and a Microsoft Student Partner Lead. Seminar started with brief introduction of Microsoft .NET framework and its evolution. He made students aware of the .NET Basics and its applications.

Seminar on Google Wave and Android

The seminar was presented by Rohit Ghatol, founder of Pune Google Technology Users Group & is currently a Project Manager at Synerzip Softech. He introduced students with Google Wave and its Apps.
He also discussed about Google Android and gave an insight into the development of Apps for Android platform.
