| PICT-IEEE Newsletter Group (P.I.N.G.)
PING is a quarterly newsletter started with a cause to create awareness among the students about what IEEE is and what is being done at PICT-IEEE Student branch . It contains details regarding the past events, upcoming events and other competitions in which student members can take part in. It also keeps the students updated with the latest technology through their articles.PING is in circulation to all the IEEE members and the e-newsletter is also available on the PICT-IEEE student branch website www.pictieee.info . Last year saw the release of four newsletters, with each issue surpassing the previous one.
P.E.A.T – Special Interest Group
PICT-IEEE Environment Action Team (P.E.A.T.) is an eco-brigade, a brainchild of PICT-IEEE student members. It aims to develop a clean and green environment in PICT, to promote green computing techniques and also help in reducing
e-waste. We as a part of this eco-brigade make an attempt to spark environmental consciousness and initiate GREEN LIFESTYLE, firstly in PICT and then in Pune.
CodeGurus – Special Interest Group
CodeGurus is a programming club created to produce excellent programmers capable of working on various platforms. It aims to enhance the programming practices of the students and thus the club organizes regular hands-on-lab sessions for all the interested students. The response from students was tremendous which showed their dedication for learning and enhancing their coding skills.
Robotics Club
The Robotics Special Interest group was formed in September,2009. The first session for this group was held on 15th September. It was an interactive session on ‘Basics of Robotics and Embedded Technology’ which featured participation from various colleges across Pune. The Robotics SIG is targeted not only at undergraduate students but also draws active participation from faculty.
Design and Web Development Special Interest Group
The Design and Web Development Special Interest Group concentrates on Designing and Web Development. The sessions are conducted on technologies like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, Microsoft Expression Studio, Adobe Fireworks and Coral Draw and languages like PHP, ASP, HTML, CSS, etc. The sessions also include HOL experience which increases the interaction and learning experience of the attendees. We further hope to increase the activities under this SIG by including some competitions that would opportunities to the attendees for showing their talents in the same.
